How CDS Electrical is reducing its carbon footprint
Environmental consciousness is not just a trend but a necessity. As Sussex renewable specialists, we at CDS Electrical are taking steps to significantly reduce our carbon footprint. Here are the steps we’ve taken in the last couple of months.
1. Solar power expansion: We are truly harnessing the power of the Sunshine Coast like never before. With a larger solar array and battery storage installed on the office roof, CDS Electrical is generating more clean energy, slashing its reliance on non-renewable energy sources and reducing its carbon emissions.
2. Electrifying our fleet: CDS Electrical has introduced two electric vehicles into our fleet, taking a significant step towards reducing emissions from transportation. You’ll often see our vehicles around the town, but now they are a beacon of our dedication to green practices.
3. Comprehensive waste management: Not the sexiest programme, but we have developed a robust waste management system, recycling all possible waste materials. We particularly emphasise Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recycling, reducing landfill waste and promoting the recycling of valuable resources
4. Choosing renewed tech: CDS Electrical opts for renewed or second-hand tech devices over brand-new ones. This practice not only extends the lifecycle of electronic devices but also significantly reduces electronic waste, setting a strong example of responsible consumption.
5. A paperless future: CDS Electrical is making strides towards becoming completely paperless. We are integrating paperless systems into our processes with an aim to become completely paperless.
6. Regular AC servicing: By carrying out regular air conditioning servicing, the company ensures efficiency and addresses issues promptly. This practice is crucial in detecting and preventing refrigerant leakage, which can have harmful environmental impacts.
We’re also looking into the possibility of partnering up with the college to see if they could repurpose any of or unrequired materials. We’ll continue our search, but please get in contact if it’s something you’re interested in.
