Commercial solar PV servicing
ENSURE YOUR PANELS PERFORM AT THEIR BEST
Servicing and maintaining your solar PV system regularly ensures that it will run at its optimum performance at all times.
CDS Electrical have in-depth experience working with solar panels and can offer you the right preventative servicing for your business.
Do I need my solar panels serviced?
If your system runs at its best, it will help to save the most money, reduce he risk of fires and maintain the earthing of your panels.
Solar panels are designed to need the minimum of maintenance, but they are still reasonably technical electrical devices and sometimes aspects of their build can go wrong, and unforeseen issues can occur.
We recommend that solar PV panels are inspected every two years.
What does a servicing visit involve?
Inspecting all aspects of the PV panels to verify that they are working as they should be.
Generalised testing of the system.
Checking of the kW/h.
Specific testing of the ampage, insulation and array voltage.
Do they have enough sunlight?
Making sure that the panels get as much sunlight as they can is important as the energy production can become inefficient if they are in a shaded area. Keep an eye on nearby plant growth and cut back if needed.
Check for flashing lights
Checking that the inverters on your panels have flashing green lights is important. If they are not flashing, it means you can lose money as they aren’t compensating for your energy use. Check for other obvious damage.
Monitoring
Putting a monitoring system in place can help you see how much CO2 you are emitting and how much you are supporting the environment.
Check panels
Visually check the panels from the ground for any movement or breakage.
Tips for panel maintenance
Track performance
By keeping track of performance, you can see if there are consistent amounts produced.
Clean them
Automated cleaning systems are a great option if you don’t have time to clean your own panels.
Commercial solar upgrade
If you have solar panels fitted at your business, then there are upgrades available that can make them even more beneficial.
Adding optimisers to solar panels to maximise efficiencies of the system
Monitoring the system via a portal to check its daily output
Fitting of stainless-steel exclusion mesh to prevent damage by birds/rodents
